Jonathan Clarke, owner and principal, has advised over 85 private clients all over the UK during the last 5 years. He has also advised English Heritage for whom he has written information papers which have been published on energy and traditional buildings. He gives lectures to local authorities, British architects (RIBA), amenity groups such as the Victorian Society, the Suffolk Preservation Society and the Institute of Historic Buildings Control (IHBC), as well as at Birmingham, Oxford Brookes and Reading Universities. Here are some of his qualifications:
- Spent more than 3 years converting a 200 year old barn in a Conservation Area (Milton) near Banbury to be an energy efficient home (EPC Band C).
- Has an MSc in Historic Conservation 22,000 word dissertation: “Conserving Heat in Historic Houses”.
- Advises Cadw in Wales on energy and historic buildings, also the Country Land Owners Association, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Historic House Association (HHA)
- Spent considerable time studying historic houses in North America and Germany to understand how they have been carefully adapted to “hang onto the heat”.
- An affiliated member of The Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers (CIBSE), who he formally represents at English Heritage.
- Is a full member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC), which exists to establish, develop and maintain the highest standards of conservation practice. Full membership is only open to historic environment conservation professionals.
- Fully licensed SAP (Domestic Energy) assessor (NHER) scheme in Milton Keynes and is a fully qualified Home Inspector.
- A full member of the Association for Environment Conscious Building.
